The Uniea U-Skin has been protecting my iPod Touch 2G for the past month. Using a silicone rubber material, the case allows my Touch to retain it’s thin shape whilst keeping it protected from everyday scratches.
Included with the case is a U-Shield screen protector which sticks on to the front of the screen. This allows you full access to the screen without impairing its visibility or responsiveness.
The U-Skin is available in grey and white, with a textured design on the back to enhance its style and grip. The all encompassing case reveals the dock and headphone jacks to allow easy access to the ports without having to take the case off when you want to dock your Touch.
A decent thickness to the silicone rubber gives a raised profile to the front, and is carefully cut to go around the home button. But unlike some other cases that try to implement this integrated design, the U-Skin doesn’t present an obstacle for pressing the home button. The power and volume buttons are covered, but are clearly marked and have been designed with a slightly raised profile.
If you use any accessories that plugs into the dock connector, for example an FM transmitter, then this case will work for you. I use a fairly bulky FM transmitter and I’ve had many cases past and present which obstructs accessories from working because they haven’t allowed enough room for it to plug in.
Fitting the case is as simple as slipping it on. The case towards the bottom folds back allowing you to very easy slip the Touch in. For when you need to remove your Touch from the case, removal is just as easy. You can fold back any of the four corners and pull the Touch out of the case. With the case on though, there’s no worry that it will fall of despite this ease of removal.
Smart design and well priced, the U-Skin from Uniea offers decent all-round protection for your Touch that is easy to maintain and provides full access to the ports.
